— Street meters —

Downtown Austin metered street parking.

The City of Austin publishes exact hours, an hour by hour rate table, and a short list of days meters are not enforced. Here it is, straight from the source.

The zone

The City's downtown paid parking area runs from I-35 to Lamar Boulevard, and from Lady Bird Lake to 10th Street. We sit at 715 Nueces, at 7th Street, inside that boundary, so the blocks around our gate are part of the same metered network the rest of downtown uses.

Enforcement hours, day by day

Meter enforcement is not the same every day:

  • Monday and Tuesday: 8 AM to 6 PM
  • Wednesday through Friday: 8 AM to midnight
  • Saturday: 11 AM to midnight
  • Sunday: the City lists no enforcement hours

That Wednesday through Saturday stretch running to midnight surprises people who assume meters stop at 6 PM every day. They do not, except on Monday and Tuesday.

The five holidays meters do not run

  • New Year's Day
  • The Fourth of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas

What it actually costs, hour by hour

The City's rate table charges more for each additional hour, up to a cap:

  • 1st hour: $2.00
  • 2nd hour: $2.00
  • 3rd hour: $3.00
  • 4th hour: $3.50
  • 5th hour: $4.00
  • 6th hour: $4.50
  • 7th through 10th hour: $5.00 each

The 10th hour is the longest a single parking session can run. Card payments at the pay station carry a single $0.50 processing fee.

The pay station is the final word

The City lists these rates as effective since September 1, 2020, with no later update shown. City rates can change without us noticing. If the pay station sign ever disagrees with this page, the sign wins, and that is the same caution we ask you to extend to our own posted rates.

The Sunday rule, plainly

Across the whole downtown zone, the City publishes no Sunday enforcement hours. Nothing else changes about the zone boundary or the rest of the week. Just Sunday.

How this compares to parking with us

No meter to feed, no running back out to add time, and no ten hour cap. Our posted rates are $15 per hour, $25 for up to 4 hours, $35 for up to 8 hours, or $50 all day, paid once at the kiosk, with current pricing posted at the entrance.

Our full rate table, including monthly plans, lives on the rates page.

Event weekend pricing

Posted rates are starting prices and are subject to change. During citywide events (SXSW, ACL, F1, UT football, and Capitol session weekends) rates may increase. We post current pricing at the lot entrance and on this page.
