Parking downtown Austin in August 2026.

August is the month downtown wakes back up. Students arrive, school starts, and the calendar goes from quiet to full in about ten days.

The busiest day of the month
Aug 22

For most of the summer, downtown Austin in August is a place people leave. Then the third week arrives and everything turns over at once. Austin ISD goes back on the 18th, UT move-in runs the 21st and 22nd, and first class day is the 24th. By the last weekend of the month the sidewalks on West 6th look the way they will look until December.

We sit at 715 Nueces, at the corner of 7th and Nueces. That puts you one block from West 6th, a seven minute walk from the Texas Capitol, and a straight shot to ACL Live and the Moody Theater. Eighty spots, gated entry around the clock, and a coffee trailer on the lot.

Move-in weekend, and why it is worth a plan

August 22 is the one to think about. Pride steps off from the Capitol and runs down Congress, UT move-in is finishing, and ZZ Top is playing the Moody Theater that night. Three different crowds, one downtown, and street closures on Congress in the middle of it.

Austin Pride has not published a step-off time for 2026 yet, so do not plan around one you read somewhere. What we can tell you is that we are north and west of the Congress closures, which means getting in and out of our lot does not depend on the parade route reopening.

If you are helping a student move in, a trailer changes the math. Call us before you come. We have had parents ask about trailer space during move-in and we would rather sort it out on the phone than at the gate.

What to expect if you have not parked here

  • Enter from Nueces at 7th. The gate is open 24 hours, so late nights are not a problem.
  • Pay at the kiosk on the lot. Card and tap both work.
  • In and out all day on a daily ticket, so you can park once and do three things.
  • Accessible spaces sit closest to the entrance.
  • Current pricing is posted at the entrance. Check it when you pull in.

If you are downtown more than five days a month

At the all-day rate, five visits costs more than a month of guaranteed access. The weekday plan covers Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 7 PM. The all-access plan covers nights, weekends and event days, which is the one that matters during a month like this. Both are month to month, and you can cancel by phone or email.

Event weekend pricing

Posted rates are starting prices and are subject to change. During citywide events (SXSW, ACL, F1, UT football, and Capitol session weekends) rates may increase. We post current pricing at the lot entrance and on this page.
